In case you missed it, it was Halloween on Thursday. So I decided to join the masses and make some Halloween cupcakes!

I went for the Spiderweb look, with spiders to stand on top from Asda!

Halloween Cupcakes

I just used my fool-proof tried and tested sponge for the cakes and then used orange and black coloured cream cheese buttercream for the decoration. I spread them with orange and then piped circles of black on each one. Then with a particularly pointy knife (because I didn’t have any cocktail sticks) I drew lines from the middle to the outer edge all around the circle to make the web effect.

Have you made any themed cupcakes? I would love to see! I think cupcakes are even more fun with a theme!

Wow, they’re awesome! Love the cobwebs! I’m not sure they’d end up looking like cobwebs if I tried this :)

I was worried. I thought with I being black icing it may all just blend together and end up a brown mess! Was surprisingly easy tho :)

They look fabulous! I’ve never tried doing the knife/cobweb affect, but you nailed it. :)

Those sound delicious and look super cute! And that spider web frosting design also works great for a snowflake theme or cookie for the holidays!

They look really good Sarah! I’ve never made themed cupcakes aside from (failed) rainbow cupcakes and I must say, I’m actually too scared to try themed cupcakes. Yours look really professional though, great job!

Thanks! I don’t do too many themed ones and when I do I try and go for easier ones! :)
