Collecting – #BEDM

Topics:Are you a collector? Maybe a bit of a hoarder? Tell us about something you like to collect. Or if you favour minimalism, perhaps tell us why?

I don’t actively collect anything really and I wouldn’t say I am a hoarder…but neither does my house shout minimalist either. Hummm

My problem (well maybe not really a problem) is that I struggle to throw things out. I won’t purposefully gather things I don’t really need but I am forever thinking ‘oh we should keep that just in case’. I do it a lot when it comes to clearing out old clothes. Every so often I think my wardrobe is too full so I will grab a charity bag and have a clear out…but there will also be some clothes I have forgotten I have that I say ‘oh I will keep this I will wear it again now I know it’s here!’…I usually don’t. Or wear it once then forget it again.

Bills and bank statements are another one. How many months worth should you keep? 1 or 2 or a years worth? I am never sure so when it comes to clearing out the ‘important docs’ folder I usually struggle to know what to get rid off! Even though I know most of it is online as well! If any of you have tips for this please let me know!

And another issue that springs to mind, is that I always like to keep hold of little ‘reminders’ of events. Like concert tickets, entry passes, the box to the Harry Potter chocolate frog I ate the other day…but I don’t do anything with them and they rarely get looked at again of I am honest.

When I was at school and college everything would get blue-tacked to my bedroom wall. Now I have my own house blue tack is a no no and I don’t particularly want a messy wall full of cinema tickets and leaflets. But it still seems a shame to throw these memories away. Same with pictures…I take hundreds and have a hard drive full…but I don’t look at them that often. Only the cream of the crop get printed and put in a frame…or maybe now on the blog.

Anyone else like to keep these things? Do you look at yours again? Maybe this does make me a hoarder of sorts…hummmm.

And as I mentioned it I would like to add how awesome the chocolate frog was. I was expecting a hollow frog but nope it was solid chocolate!! It was no Cadbury quality but I rather enjoy ‘cheap chocolate’ (I’m not fussy when it comes to junk food, hence the slimming world!) so I thought it was awesome! And I got Rowena Ravenclaw in mine :)
