Book Love – #BEDM

Topic: Tell us about your favourite book. Or maybe give us a top 5 of the books that changed your life.

I have read LOADS of books…but I don’t think I have a favourite one. And I am sorry to say that the books I have read are not gritty, or interlectual in anyway. When I read a book I want to relax and switch off and I do that by reading Chick Lit! Yup all those girly books which are all very much girl finds herself in new situation, girls bumps into the ‘most obnoxious’ man ever, girls ends up seeing this man everywhere/living next door to man/man is her new boss, lots of awkward situations follow and boom they are in love! I love these books! :)

And there are some of these books which I can actually read over and over and over again. I will start with one of my most read series.

The ‘I Heart…’ books by Lindsey Kelk.

So far in this series there are 4 books: I Heart New York, I Heart Hollywood, I Heart Paris, I Heart Vegas and I Heart London.

These books follow the story of writer Angela after her life at home takes an unexpected turn for the worst she runs away to New York and meets the amazing Jenny who helps her start her life over in NY – and her adventures afterwards.

I love these books. They are funny and I think I love them because I kind of wish I could just up and decided to live in New York too. (If you read my Travel Dreams post yesterday you know how much I love America!)

***OOOO Just discovered the next one in the series is a Christmas one out in November! I can’t wait!***

I also love ‘A Single Girls To-Do List’ by Lindsey Kelk.

Next up are books by the author Miranda Dickinson. I won’t go into an synopsis for each one, but I will link them on Amazon so you can have a read if you wish! I love the style of the writing in these books as well as the story – plus Miranda is from the Midlands so some of the locations in her books I recognise. ‘It started with a Kiss’ is based in Birmingham!

Miranda Dickinson books I have read are: ‘Fairytale of New York‘ (NY again!), ‘Welcome to my world‘, ‘When I Fall in Love‘ and ‘It started with a Kiss‘.

Next up are 2 books by Ali McNamara. ‘From Notting Hill with Love…Actually‘ and the sequel ‘From Notting Hill to New York…actually‘ (humm NY again!). The leading lady in these books dreams of a life full of movie moments. She sees scenes from Rom Com’s in all aspects of live. Then her life suddenly starts playing out like one of these films! Packed full of girly film references…if you like that kind of thing you will love these books!

And to mix things up a little bit – another series of books which I have re-read multiple times and which need no explanation I am sure are ‘The Hunger Games Trilogy‘. See I can read something which isn’t a love story! :)

And my final book isn’t a story at all. It’s to get you motivated when you want to actually stop moaning about those extra few pounds and do something about it. ‘Run Fat B!tch Fun‘ lays it out straight. If you don’t like the flab, run it off. Don’t make excuses just get on with it…I actually think I need to re-read this one right now. I need some motivation!!

I love a bit of chick lit every now and then! Some my absolute faves are Maeve Binchy, Marian Keyes and Louise Bagshawe but unfortunately all of that stuff has had to be shoved to the back of the shelf while I get all my academic reading done :( Roll on the summer!

You can have a good read in the sun (hopefully) once your work is done! :) think I have read something by all 3 of those!

There’s nothing wrong with chick lit – I love it though I don’t read it all the time. But you’re right, it’s nice just to be able to switch off completely and enjoy a book, and chick lit lets you do that! And while the stories are all largely the same (your synopsis was spot on), there’s something comforting in it. You wouldn’t want to read a chick lit where the heroine didn’t end up with the guy that she hated in chapter one!

Nope or the best guy friend who she hadn’t realised she had any feelings for but then he saved her from a creep! Haha I do read other things occasionally (does Harry potter count) I just love a good girly read :) I like to think I am giving my brain a rest after working hard!

Hehe you should! I think if you were sensitive or very low self confidence it could have the wrong effect, but if you can take it with a pinch of salt, its very funny and straight to the point in a ‘well if you aren’t going to do something about it, quit moaning’ kind of way!
